Art and hip-hop have a long and intertwined history. Hip hop, as a cultural movement, encompasses four elements: MCing (rapping), DJing, breaking (dancing), and graffiti writing. Graffiti writing, in particular, has played a significant role in hip-hop development and has helped define its visual identity. One of the earliest and most iconic examples of the link between art and hip-hop was the "Graffiti Rock" show in 1984.
